Beyond 3G Communications - Proof of Concept

Dreampact has recently developed a demonstrator for the University of Strathclyde as part of their "Beyond 3G" Proof of Concept project. These prototypes demonstrate novel methods for the wireless transfer of high-speed data over a 2.5GHz carrier frequency.

The prototypes were implemented with separate transmit and receive hardware, both comprising a commercially available FPGA board (baseband) and a custom RF board. Both the baseband and RF boards incorporate Virtex 4 FPGA devices providing the primary signal processing engine for implementing the University of Strathclyde algorithms.

To complement the prototype hardware, and to ease the integration and debug phase, Dreampact also developed a feature-rich Windows application for control, monitoring and diagnostics.
